About Marcia

Marcia Overstreet is a Licensed Professional Counselor (#C1733) with offices in Ashland and Medford, Oregon.  She specializes in helping individuals heal from depression, anxiety, loss, and broken relationships.  She also works with clients to develop and maintain healthier self-esteem and assertive communication skills.  She believes that individuals have great inner resources and potential.  Her goal is for clients to be able to tap into their inner strength, truth, and power in a supportive, caring and nonjudgmental atmosphere.

After a traumatic loss in Marcia’s life many years ago, and after subsequent counseling, Marcia chose to go back to school for her Master’s Degree in Counseling to be able to offer to others the same type of caring, empowering, and supportive therapy she feels helped to change her life.  She views seeking counseling as a great strength.

    Marcia’s professional background includes:

  • Group and individual counseling at Rogue Community College
  • Private practice
  • Individual counseling at Samaritan Counseling Center
  • Counselor and an owner of ParkPlace Counseling Center
  • Women’s Support Groups
  • Depression Seminars
  • Teaching the following personal growth classes:  Assertive Communication, Stress Management, Building Self-esteem, Creative Writing, and Personal Discovery.

Through her research on the most important components to successful therapy, she learned what she already knew, the therapeutic relationship is essential to a positive therapeutic outcome.  Therefore, Marcia is very mindful to create a safe, relaxing, and nurturing environment for that relationship to flourish.  Her approach has always been holistic - involving mind, body and spirit.
